NDFP ever ready to push peace talks forward, chief negotiator says

The National Democratic Front of the Philippines Negotiating Panel chairperson Fidel Agcaoili said their party came to the third round of formal talks ever ready to push the negotiations forward and even accelerate the process of forging mutually acceptable comprehensive agreements on the most important topics of Socio-economic Reforms (SER) and Political and Constitutional Reforms (PCR).

But Agcaoili said they are also mindful of the fact that certain serious obstacles remain to be hurdled if mutual trust and confidence are to be maintained so that the negotiations can move forward.

Bello: Peace talks promises enabling hope

In his remarks at the opening of their third round of formal peace talks with the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, Government of the Republic of the Philippines Negotiating Panel chairperson Silvestre Bello III said offer hope to the Filipino people.

In particular, Bello said the ongoing round needs hope to tackle the rigorous subjects on socio-economic, political and constitutional reforms, and of ending hostilities and disposition of forces.

Joma Sison: GRP and NDFP can negotiate in a non-adversarial way

NDFP Chief Political Consultant Jose Maria Sison said both parties in the peace talks can negotiate in a non-adversarial way and overcome any obstabcle by addressing the roots of the armed conflict.

Sison added that the talks may proceed in a smooth manner as long it seeks to satisfy the demands of the people for basic social, economic and political reforms in order to lay the foundation of a just and lasting peace and build a Philippines that is truly independent, democratic, just, prosperous and progressive.

Gabriela presents women’s peace agenda to GRP and NDFP

Members of Gabriela-Rome, in behalf of all its chapters in the Philippines and other parts of the world, presented to representatives of the negotiating panels of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines the Women’s Agenda for a Just and Lasting Peace.

The brief ceremony was held immediately before the opening ceremonies of the third round of formal peace negotiations between the parties.

Former Gabriela Representatives Luz Ilagan and Liza Masa as well as Atty Angela Trinidad represented the GRP while NDFP Panel member Coni Ledesma ang NDFP consultants Wilma Tiamzon and Concha Araneta Bocala represented the NDFP.

NDFP peace negotiators pay tribute to NPA’s Pulang Bagani Battalion

NDFP peace negotiators were honored by the New People’s Army’s Pulang Bagani Battalion with a special military parade and review at the conclusion of their national peace forum in Davao City’s Paquibato District last December 26.

NDFP negotiating panel member Coni Ledesma, senior adviser Luis Jalandoni, consultants Concha Araneta Bocala and Porferio Tuna expressed delight at the presence of women commanders and fighters among the ranks of the NPA’s biggest standing unit. Read more
