Give farmers a fair shake

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has been working hand-in-glove with big landlords in frustrating the decades-old demand of Batangas farmers to break up several sugar haciendas under the Roxases, with the DAR making an about face about the awards to landless peasants and giving the landlords the best land, with half of the least arable sections divided among the CARP beneficiaries.

Crying over spilled milk

“Sumasalok sa dalawang balong tuyot ang ale,” one pundit said, “at hindi mapupuno ang imbudo.” There is no confluence for the Marcos Creek and the Duterte rivulet. Yet, the Punch and Judy Show must continue, but the comical fight must entertain and bore kids in attendance.

Fire Menardo Guevarra

Since Guevera could no longer function as what his job description demands, and consequently, the Marcos Jr. administration cannot depend on him to argue on behalf of the government before the Supreme Court (SC), the most proper action for the Palace to do at the moment is to kick him out.

Patnubay sa Botante: Bato de la Rosa

De la Rosa is scared stiff by the possibility that he may yet be arrested by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to join the lonely Duterte at the Scheveningen prison in The Hague and has asked the Senate to protect him despite all his protestations, or affirmations, that he is ready to join his boss in prison.

ICC chamber nixes Duterte motions

Six months are an eternity for Duterte, who is expected to plead for interim release  pending trial but such liberty may not be available to him, with the relatives of his victims arguing he is not only a flight risk but is also obsessed with violence, and all those who took the cudgels for the victims of the drug war may find themselves in his crosshairs once he is released to continue his mayhem.

Duterte faces ICC judges

There is practically no chance the chamber would grant him liberty since humanity has to be protected from those accused of perpetrating crimes against humanity. He will remain in custody and the chamber will set a date for a hearing for a process called confirmation of charges.

No place for ‘tokhang’ cops in Canada

The Ahuday case must be studied by the thousands of policemen seconded to the bloody nationwide Duterte campaign from 2016 to 2022 and in his campaign in Davao City when he was mayor that led to more than 3,000 deaths.

Mooted

The government’s delivery of Duterte to ICC should hasten Sara’s impeachment trial. It will be culmination of a dynastic destruction by a rival dynasty.
