The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) said Sen. Ronald ‘Bato’ dela Rosa should “shut up” and stop blaming the revolutionary forces for the arrest of former president Rodrigo Duterte by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
The revolutionary party said dela Rosa sounds like a broken record in pointing the finger at the CPP as well as the New People’s Army (NPA) and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) for Duterte’s detention at The Hague in The Netherlands.
Dela Rosa is also trying to blame the Reds on the possibility of his own arrest by the ICC, the CPP said.
“Bato is blaming everyone, except himself and his boss (Duterte),” CPP chief information officer said.
Valbuena said dela Rosa implemented Duterte’s so-called war against drugs that extra-judicially killed tens of thousands of victims.
In a campaign sortie in Sogod, Southern Leyte, dela Rosa said it was the CPP-NPA-NDFP that “orchestrated” the ICC case against Duterte.
The senator said the Left has an axe to grind against the Duterte regime for dealing the revolutionary underground losses in the field.
Instead of the Left, however, Magdalo rightists were in fact the first to file complaints against Duterte, dela Rosa and others in 2017 for alleged crimes against humanity.
Duterte was arrested last March 11 and brought to The Hague on the same day.
“It is in Bato’s rotten character to lie to the people and cover up on his criminal record as police general,” Valbuena said.
He also taunted dela Rosa: “He said the CPP and the NPA are already weak, yet he still blames us as orchestrators of events in the country.”
It is obvious dela Rosa is just using CPP-NPA’s names in his attempts to evade the court, Valbuena added.
The CPP officer however said they are truly happy over Duterte’s arrest for the deaths of tens of thousands of alleged drug personalities as well as the former president’s counter-insurgency war.
Valbuena said that Duterte’s war against drugs was about the elimination of the former president’s drug trafficking rivals while his regime’s counter-insurgency campaigns mostly victimized unarmed civilians and hors de combat. # (Raymund B. Villanueva)
