The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) in its traditional 57th anniversary statement reported “moderate successes” in its two-year old third rectification movement, including frustrating Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s promise to crush their armed revolution.
The Party said it continuous to thwart the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP)’s focused military operations against the New People’s Army (NPA) as it achieves triumphs in other revolutionary work.
“The Party perseveres because it possesses unwavering loyalty to proletarian ideology, principles and principles, and the determination forged in the fire to serve the people,” the CPP said. .
While acknowledging remaining “internal weaknesses,” the CPP declared that the NPA’s continuing armed struggle in various regions of the country is “a big slap in the face of Marcos Jr.”
Marcos Jr. in his last State of the Nation Address in July declared that “there are no more guerrilla groups” in the country and ordered the military to prevent the NPA from forming new guerilla fronts.
The Party said the NPA implemented adjustments in its organization and command that enabled them to operate in a wider area, and “move more quickly and more secretly.” In general, the NPA succeeded in making its enemies remain deaf and blind as proven by less defensive skirmishes against the AFP, the revolutionary group said.
“The NPA has preserved its strength and has gradually expanded again. It has regained or returned to its previous bases, while expanding into new areas,” the underground Party reported.
“With determination to fight and active defense, the NPA has repelled and defeated enemy attacks. As a sign of recovery, some units have been able to launch small tactical offensives,” it added.
Aside from preserving the NPA from military operations, the CPP said its entire membership has strengthened since it launched its rectification movement in December 2023.
“With the help of all revolutionary forces, the Party perseveres in strengthening itself to lead the people’s democratic movement through protracted people’s war,” it said on its official newsletter Ang Bayan.
“The Party is now well positioned to lead the broad masses of the people in all fields of struggle, primarily in the field of armed struggle,” it added.
The CPP credited its bold expansion campaign among emergent revolutionaries in the mass movement, both in the cities and the countryside.
The Party encouraged its members to persevere in forming broad united fronts against the Marcos and Duterte factions in government “to expose them as the most reactionary and fascist representatives of the ruling system.” # (Raymund B. Villanueva)
