CPP challenges NDFP to strengthen resistance against imperialism

The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) called on the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) to strengthen armed struggle against intensifying United States imperialist aggression in the country.

The CPP called for “all-out efforts” to advance “the protracted people’s war” in a message on the NDFP’s 52nd founding anniversary tomorrow, April 24.

It said the NDFP must strengthen the New People’s Army (NPA) and help revitalize the armed struggle and revolutionary mass movements in the Philippine countryside.

The revolutionary party said its challenge is in response to the renewed intensification of imperialist aggression as well as the escalation of US armed intervention in the country.

“The revolutionary armed struggle of the Filipino people is the primary and most effective form of resistance against the imperialist war instigated by the US, and to achieve national freedom and democracy,” the Party said.

The CPP cited the deployment of more US war assets in the Philippines, including medium range missile systems both the US armed forces and the Philippine government say are for the external defense of the country.

Bigger and bigger military exercises are being held by both governments that have been also participated in by governments allied with the US, such as Japan, Australia, India and others.

But the CPP earlier said that increasing US military presence in the Philippines is not only directed against Chinese aggression in the region but are also used against local civilian communities and revolutionary forces.

The CPP called on the NDF to build broad unity among the people against the hollow “deterrence policy” of the US.

“The aim is not to deter China, but to intimidate and provoke it,” it said.

To protect its forces and defend civilians, the CPP called on the NDF to lead in strengthening “people’s resistance” against foreign plunder and domination in the economy.

“It should serve as a strong voice of opposition to the Trump administration’s use of tariff threats against products imported from the Philippines, in order to further open the country to the influx of surplus goods from the US,” it added.

The revolutionary party said the NDFP must also strongly criticize the Ferdinand Marcos Jr. regime for its subservience to the US and for implementing neoliberal economic policies that allow foreigners to further “seize land, exploit the country’s natural resources, destroy the environment, and plunge the nation into debt.”

“It is essential to strengthen the NDF and the patriotic front of the Filipino people to promote the stand for national freedom,” the CPP said.

The NDFP should help strengthen its allied organizations, expand its reach to various sectors, and connect with friendly organizations and movements abroad to help build a strong anti-imperialist movement, it added. # (Raymund B. Villanueva)
