Aliases in confidential fund vouchers are illegal

“Public officials must be held to the highest standards of transparency. Using fake names in financial documents is not only illegal, it is a gross insult to the Filipino people who demand accountability for every centavo of public money.”

Impeachment is not a witch-hunt

“There is no witch-hunt. In fact what happened is that we want to get the witch of the south to explain where she took the confidential funds, but she does not want to answer our questions, that’s why we brought this up to an impeachment trial so that we will know the truth there.”

Senate can’t dismiss impeachment complaint

“The Constitution does not grant the Senate the power to dismiss, quash, or return the Articles on procedural or political grounds. The only way an impeached official may be acquitted is through a trial, not through a majority vote to dismiss. A two-thirds vote of all senators is constitutionally required to convict, and anything short of that—whether for acquittal or otherwise—can only be arrived at after a fair and public trial.”

Act now before oil price reaches P80 per liter

“The government has the executive power to suspend these burdensome taxes immediately. We cannot afford to wait for legislative action when our people are already suffering from rising prices of basic commodities.”

Duterte’s release will escalate attacks on victims, their lawyers

Given the long history of threats, harassment, and even killings targeting victims, witnesses, and human rights lawyers, we assert that Duterte’s release will escalate these attacks.

Senate needs to convene as impeachment court forthwith

“That is not the discretion of the Senate, as if it is giving to the plenary to decide whether they will fulfill their constitutional mandate or not. The Senate plenary is not supreme over the Constitution, and it is not up to the Senate on whether or not they will convene as an impeachment court.”
