With Arayat as witness 49 years ago today

This was the spot where Jose Maria Sison, fresh from re-establishing the Communist Party of the Philippines the previous year, met with guerrilla leader Bernabe “Ka Dante” Buscayno to establish the New People’s Army in March 29, 1968, 

What used to be a bamboo clump in Sta. Rita, Capas, Tarlac is now mostly rice fields where the majestic Mt. Arayat still stands guard. (Photo by R. Villanueva)
