UP Carillon plays Ang Internasyunal on Marx’s 200th birth anniversary

As activists celebrate the 200th birth anniversary of Karl Marx, the University of the Philippines played The Internationale.

The event was part of the global celebration of Marx’s theoretical contributions to the emancipation of the working class that will last an entire year.

This is the first time after a long while that the Carillon played the workers’ anthem.

Marx200 celebrated in the Philippines

Workers, peasants, women, teachers and students celebrated the Karl Marx Bicentenary on May 5, 2018 at the University of the Philippines with poems, skits, songs and artworks.

Prof. Jose Ma. Sison made the keynote address delving into the current crisis of the world monopoly capitalist system and the resurgence of proletarian revolutionary struggles.

Dr. Ramon Guillermo announced the translation into Filipino of Das Kapital and other works of Marx.

The event was capped by the Internationale with the special tolling of the U.P. Carillon bells.
