NDFP consultants come home to UP

NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC FRONT OF THE pHILIPPINES (NDFP) peace consultants Benito Tiamzon, Wilma Austria Tiamzon, Jaime Soledad, Rey Claro Casambre, Rafael Baylosis, visited the University of the Philippines in Diliman Quezon City for the first time since their release from prison or going above-ground last September 15.

The group was welcomed by UP Diliman Chancellor Michael Tan and vice-chancellor Nestor Castro at the iconic Oblation and were given the sablay. Read more

NDFP consultants declare 1st round of talks successful

National Democratic Front of the Philippines consultants declare their first round of peace negotiations with the Government of the Republic of the Philippines successful.

In a press conference at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport upon their arrival last September 3, the consultants said the agreements reached at the talks push forward their struggle for genuine independence and just and lasting peace.

“We are happy to be part of this historic event,” Benito Tiamzon, in behalf of his group, said.

“We enjoin the Filipino people to join us in fighting for change both within and outside the ambit of the peace negotiations,” Tiamzon added. Read more

Joma Sison meets the Tiamzons in Oslo

Prof. Jose Maria Sison, founder of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), meets Benito Tiamzon and Wilma Austria here in Oslo, Norway at the eve of the resumption of formal talks between the GRP and the NDFP. Tiamzon and Austria are alleged by the Armed Forces of the Philippines to be the current chairperson and secretary general of the CPP, respectively.

Benito and Wilma Tiamzon walk free from detention

Benito Tiamzon and Wilma-Austria-Tiamzon thanked the Filipino people and the New People’s Army after their release this afternoon from the Philippine National Police Custodial Center at Camp Crame.

They also thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for ordering their release to enable their participation as National Democratic Front of the Philippines consultants in its formal peace talks in Oslo, Norway on Monday. Read more

No contradiction in safe conduct pass for NDFP consultants–Bello

MANILA—The government’s chief negotiator does not see contradictions between earlier announced plans to release National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) peace consultants and President Rodrigo Duterte’s recent statement that he will only issue them safe conduct passes.

In his speech at the Philippine Air Force anniversary celebrations last July 5, Duterte said he “…is not ready to release everybody” but will only issue safe conduct passes for NDFP consultants Jose Maria Sison, Benito Tiamzon, Wilma Austria and NDFP panel chairperson Luis Jalandoni.

In May, NDFP spokesperson and peace panel member Fidel Agcaoili announced that Duterte told him he plans on issuing a general amnesty order for all political prisoners, numbering more than 500. Read more
