Duterte’s anti-terrorism bill earns immediate condemnation

A day after the House of Representatives adopted Senate’s version of the Anti-Terrorism Bill of 2020, at least a thousand human rights defenders attended a condemnation rally at the University of the Philippines-Diliman in Quezon City last June 4.

Wearing masks and keeping some distance between each other, the activity was among the first and the biggest rally against what they call President Rodrigo Duterte’s increasing tyranny. They accuse Duterte of using the coronavirus pandemic lockdown to push for this militaristic agenda that endangers human rights and freedoms. (Video by Jek Alcaraz/Kodao)
