Morong 43 detainee Valentino Paulino's mother, Adoracion, denied that her son is a New People's Army member. She said that her son was tortured, which led to his confession as a member of the rebel group.

Last February 25, 2010, Commission on Human Rights (CHR) Chairperson Atty. Leila De Lima personally received the complaint filed by the lawyers and relatives of the 43 illegally detained health workers against the 2nd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.

The 2nd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army was forced to present
the 43 illegally arrested community health workers at the Court of
Appeals in Manila last February 15.
The victims were bussed from
Camp Capinpin, Rizal Province and were presented to the court, each
handcuffed to a soldier and heavily guarded and escorted by platoons in
full battle gear.
