Celebrating Ka Bel's life, struggles, and legacy

We had to break an important meeting to attend the launch of Ina Alleco R Silverio’s first book Ka Bel: The Life and Struggles of Crispin Beltran at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani last June 4. I drove like a man possessed just to be in time and I was, with plenty to spare. It took me one and half hours to drive to the meeting venue; I reached Bantayog in 45 minutes with four nervous ladies as passengers.

Commemorating Ka Bel's death anniversary

In a program at Plaza Miranda, Manila, union leaders, friends and relatives commemorate the second death anniversary of labor leader and Anakpawis Partylist representative Crispin "Ka Bel" Beltran. He served as representative of Bayan Muna from 2001 to 2004 and Anakpawis from 2005 up to his fatal accident in May 20, 2008. He fell from the roof of his Bulacan home which he had been repairing and suffered fatal head injuries which led to his death.

Dear Family and Friends,

As some of you may now know, last November 16, 2009, Ariel Saturay, a documentary filmmaker, suffered a massive stroke while conducting a video training. Ariel is a volunteer of Kodao, an award-winning multimedia production outfit. He is now out of intensive care but the right half of his body has been affected by the stroke.  read more »

Satur Ocampo and Liza Maza: Makabayan Senatorial Candidates

Nationalist representatives Satur C Ocampo and Lisa L Maza announce they will run as independent candidates for the Senate in the Philippines' 2010 national elections in this press conference held in 24 November 2009.

The candidates clarified they withdrew their names for inclusion in the Nacionalista Party's slate saying they could not in conscience be in the same group as the moribund Kilusang Bagong Lipunan, the political party of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
